I managed to get an ARC of this book right before release on NetGalley, but it wasn’t until I purchased a physical copy at B&N that I got motivated to read it. See, I knew I was going to love this book (and obviously I was right) so it made sense to just buy a copy and I’m so glad I did. I loved this book so much and I can’t wait for the sequel!
Adult Fiction Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time
I talk a lot about young adult books, which I absolutely love, but I also read adult fiction too and I feel like I don’t give that section of books enough love.
So today, I’m going to highlight adult fiction books I love. Now, I am pretty new to the adult fiction world, so some of these may be well-known favorites. If you have any recommendations for books I should read next based on these, please let me know! I’m always looking for more recommendations!
“Underrated” YA Books You Should Read
Every reader knows a book or series that they absolutely love but no one else has heard of. With the recent events and new information coming forward about certain YA authors, I feel like it is a good time to highlight some authors that I love and highly recommend you should read! While there is a lot of discourse and conversation going on right now that you should look into, let’s take a chance to instead highlight books and authors that I feel are underrated or underappreciated!
WWW Wednesday #2
Happy Wednesday everybody! This weekend was so much fun as I got to see my family and enjoy breaking the fast to end Passover, so I was pretty busy cooking and cleaning with not much reading time. Still, I managed to get some reading done so here is another WWW Wednesday!

When Ivy shines on her, Fern feels seen. When they’re together, Fern has purpose. She glimpses the secrets Ivy hides behind her fame, her fortune, the lavish parties she throws at her great glass house, and understands that Ivy hurts in ways Fern can’t fathom. And soon, it’s clear Ivy wants someone Fern can help her get. But as the two pull closer, Fern’s cozy life on Commodore unravels: drought descends, fires burn, and a reckless night spins out of control. A queer retelling of “The Firebird,” a Russian folktale
When twin heirs are born in Tourin, their fates are decided at a young age. While Izaveta remained at court to learn the skills she’d need as the future queen, Asya was taken away to train with her aunt, the mysterious Firebird, who ensured magic remained balanced in the realm.
But before Asya’s training is completed, the ancient power blooms inside her, which can mean only one thing: the queen is dead, and a new ruler must be crowned…
I’m technically reading two books right now, A Dark and Hollow Star and I’m also reading When We Were Infinite by Kelly Loy Gilbert right now. I’m hoping to finish both of these by the weekend, so I can get started on some blog tour books that I need to read before the end of the month! I’m also doing some non-fiction reading too, so I feel like I have even less time to read and review books right now.
DNF Review: Tell Me My Name
I was so excited for this book. I really, really was. But once I started reading it, the only thing I could think of was “please stop”. It was tragic.
ARC Review: Namesake
I was so excited when I received an ARC of Namesake from Wednesday Books, all I wanted to do was drop everything and read this. Sadly, life gets in the way, but I was finally able to read this book and I loved it! If you haven’t read Fable yet, be sure to check out my spoiler free review here.
Review: What Big Teeth
I won a copy of What Big Teeth from BookishFirst after reading a sneak preview on their site. The prologue and first chapter got me so excited for this book, but after reading it, it didn’t live up to my hopes.
Mar ’21 Wrap Up
It’s April 1st and while I’m not big into pranks and stuff, I really did play myself with reading this month. I was on track to finish all the books I wanted to read for this month, but life did not want me to finish reading them. Oh well, here’s what I read for March and if you want to see what I plan to read in April, check out my TBR here!
I also linked all of the reviews that are posted for these books, so if you want to read my thoughts, check out the reviews below!
Apr ’21 TBR
Every time I think I’m going to finish my TBR and have time to read extra books, it doesn’t happen. In March, I was halfway through the month and was doing so well, then our offer was accepted on a house and I had zero time and motivation to read.
So for April, even though there are so many books I want to put down on my TBR, I’m sticking with nine. Three are for blog tours, five are all NetGalley books I need to read and review, and one is a TBR book my friends are dying for me to read. If I have extra time available, I am absolutely reading other books as well, but for now I’m going to be realistic. Most likely I’ll be busy with packing and moving and unpacking, so it’s better to keep my expectations low.
NEW BLOG TOUR: Dustborn
We are so excited to announce our next blog tour for Dustborn by Erin Bowman!
ARC Review: The Theft of Sunlight
I finally finished this book! It has been so hard trying to find time to read these past few weeks. If you weren’t aware, my fiance and I are currently in the process of buying a house! And at the same time, I’m also unfortunately dealing with some medical issues and too many doctors appointments. Oh and this week is the week of Passover.
I’m a little busy. So trying to read has been pretty difficult. But, I finally found time to finish this amazing book and I’m so desperate for more!
Count to 10 Book Tag
I apologize for the late post. Closing on a house, plus health stuff going on, plus life has left me unable to read, unable to focus, and unable to sit down and write anything. So today, I’m doing a tag. This took me so long to do just cause I cannot seem to focus, but it was still a lot of fun! I saw this post over on Alexa’s blog, Writing the Universe, and totally stole it. Be sure to check out her post to see her responses!
Originally on Alyce’s YouTube channel, this tag looks like so much fun! I haven’t done a book tag in a while and this one looked like a challenge, so I’m excited!
Series Highlight: The Dauntless Paths
I mentioned in my post yesterday that I am currently reading The Theft of Sunlight by Intisar Khanani and I’m loving it! Since the book came out on Tuesday, I thought today would be a great day to do a series highlight!
WWW Wednesday
This is my first time participating in WWW Wednesday but I thought it was fitting for the week I’ve had! I haven’t finished reading anything this whole week and a half due to stress and other things, like buying a house. So here’s a small update.
Addressing the Blogging Controversy
I don’t like posting rants on my blog. It makes me feel icky and like I’m complaining, which I guess I technically am, but that’s besides the point.
I’m making an exception for this though.Today, I want to talk about the newest blogging controversy and the disrespect bloggers experience in the book industry.
April Releases I’m Excited to Read
We are almost to the end of March and I’m already planning my April TBR. I have so many books I want to purchase and read, so here’s my current TBR list for April with books I want to buy!
Books I can’t stop thinking about
Have you ever read a book and even after you put it down, you can’t stop thinking about it? I have read so many good books recently – like all 5 star reads – and I can’t stop thinking about these books! Some are just so well written, others are mind-blowing plots, and some just hit my soul and changed me.
Here are some books that I can’t stop thinking about!
NetGalley Update (Mar ’21)
I have been working my butt off to get through the NetGalley books I have and get my score up above 80%. When I started I was at 70% and stayed there for months as more and more books were approved. I recently (finally) hit 80% on my account and have worked to get below 20 books for so long.
ARC Review: Phoenix Flame
Immediately after finishing Havenfall, I picked up Phoenix Flame and read it in one sitting. At just under 300 pages, I devoured this book to find out what happens next and now I’m curious if this series is a duology or a trilogy…
ARC Review: Havenfall
And here we go again – another ALA 2019 book that I had sitting on my shelf for forever before I finally picked it up… Today, I am reviewing Havenfall by Sara Holland, an ARC that I managed to snag and just haven’t had the time to pick up. I finally decided to read it because I also had an ARC of Phoenix Flame sitting on my kindle that I had to read – so I read both!
Mar ’21 Mid-Month Update
I feel like this year is just flying by. We’re already almost three months into the year, we’ve hit the 1 year mark since the pandemic began (for my state), and it’s already the middle of March! Time is absolutely flying. So to slow things down a little, here’s a mid-month update on what I read, what I’m reading, and what I want to read for the rest of March!
Blog Tour + Favorite Quotes: Sing Me Forgotten
Today, I am reviewing one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2021 – Sing Me Forgotten by Jessica S. Olson! This is a genderbent Phantom of the Opera retelling with magic and I was so excited to be a part of this tour! Thank you again to Turn the Page Tours for allowing me to participate in the Sing Me Forgotten blog tour! I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to share my favorite quotes and 5 reasons to read this book. Be sure to check out the tour schedule for more amazing content!
ARC Review: House of Hollow
Ever since this book came on my radar, I knew I was going to love it. This book took what I thought I knew, twisted it on its head, and spat it back at me. I am still reeling at what I read.
Blog Tour + Giveaway: Sweet & Bitter Magic
I could not believe I am able to participate in this blog tour for Sweet & Bitter Magic. This is one of my most anticipated reads and WOW did it live up to that expectation! I am not joking when I say that I’m obsessed with this book and I need a series continuation of at least 10 more please.
Thank you to TBR & Beyond Tours for allowing me to participate and review this book! Be sure to check out my post on Instagram as well as the giveaway being hosted! More information at the end of my post. And be sure to check out the tour schedule on TBR & Beyond’s website for more reviews and other amazing posts!
B&N Book Haul
On Saturday I went to B&N because I had a $250 VISA gift card I won from work and I went wild! I bought 10 books and still had money left over on the gift card. I haven’t done a large book haul in a while and all of the books I bought are ones I have been dying to read.
Review: The Gilded Ones
This book has been on my radar for a while, especially since my blog tour company, Book Terminal Tours, did a blog tour for this book! Seeing everyone’s amazing reviews and gorgeous posts got me so hyped for this book and while I have some qualms with it, this book definitely lives up to its hype.
I received an ARC of The Gilded Ones from Delacorte Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is an honest, spoiler free review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Blog Tour (Promo Post): Covet
It’s finally here – Covet has been released! I loved Crave, was obsessed with Crush, and I am so excited for Covet!
I was supposed to read and review this book and include my favorite quotes, but unfortunately my copy of Covet hasn’t arrived, so I will be doing a spotlight post for this tour and uploading my review later on. So I apologize for the lack of review here, but I hope you enjoy this spotlight post!
Thank you to Turn the Page tours and Entangled Teen for having me participate on this tour! Be sure to check out the full schedule here and check out my Instagram post here!
Blog Tour: The Castle School (For Troubled Girls) Review + Interview
I’m so excited to be able to participate in the blog tour for The Castle School: For Troubled Girls by Alyssa Sheinmel! I was so happy I got to read this book early because I absolutely loved it. Be sure to check out the other posts on this tour, schedule link here. Thanks again to TBR Beyond Tours for allowing me to participate.
Review: Chosen Ones
This is my first Veronica Roth book and it was one that I actually wished for and my wish was granted on NetGalley! It took me a while to getting around to reading it and this book ended up being very middle of the road for me. Not great, but not bad.
Feb ’21 Wrap Up
It’s March… I cannot believe that it is March 2021 and I’ve been trapped in my home for TWELVE MONTHS.
I guess it’s time for another wrap up post – so here’s all the books I read in February!
ARC Review: Amelia Unabridged
I have been reading a lot of books about grief recently. A person I was friends with in high school passed away from cancer a few weeks ago. We weren’t close, but I knew her. Spent time with her. Watched her journey from diagnosis to the end, and it broke me to hear she had passed. In fact, three people from my school have passed from cancer. Two people I knew and was friends with.
Reading these books about grief have helped me understand my own. My sadness, my grief, my frustration. This book took me on Amelia’s journey to accept the loss of her best friend and I will tell you, I sobbed.
Mar ‘21 TBR
It feels so weird to post my TBR for next month on the 26th, but since there’s only two more days of February, I think it has to go up early.
I’m so proud of how much I read last month, I almost got caught up on my ARC TBR (which is the first time I can say this in months) so not much is being carried over into March thankfully. Here’s what I plan to read in March 2021.
DNF Review: City of the Uncommon Thief
I really don’t like having to put down a book before I finish it. It’s just a sad feeling, but I could not push through this book. Maybe one day I’ll come back to revisit this story and see if I can understand what’s going on, but as of right now, I had to stop at 25%.
I was given an e-ARC of City of the Uncommon Thief from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This has not impacted my review and all thoughts and feelings are my own.
ARC Review: Down Comes the Night
I was lucky enough to win a physical ARC of Down Comes the Night from Allison in one of her giveaways (which I’m still screaming about!) and received a digital ARC from Wednesday Books through NetGalley. This is one of my most anticipated reads for 2021 and I absolutely loved it. If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers, only one bed trope, and some strange, but awesome magic – then keep reading!
Review: A Court of Silver Flames
I finally was able to read my copy of ACOSF and I loved it. I connected with Nesta’s journey a lot and found ways to help myself heal through her story, so if you’re not a fan of SJM and were planning on coming to my blog to harass me for reading this book, please don’t. I know SJM is a polarized author, I know not everyone supports her, but her books have really helped me face my own trauma and mental health and I appreciate her writing about those experiences.
Please remember to be kind and that everyone has their own story to tell. Thank you.
Review: Crush
I read Crave several months ago and fell in love with it. After that ending, I was so curious to see where this series was heading and how we were going to have any more books! I was lucky enough to be accepted to participate in a blog tour for Covet and knew I had to overcome my fear and read Crush.
And oh my gosh – you need to read this book.
If you haven’t read my review of Crave, you can check it out here. This review may contain spoilers for the first book, so be warned!
Review: Stormbreak
I finished the Seafire trilogy and I’m so sad!! But thank you to Penguin Teen for sending me a finished copy for review. I have loved this series since June 2018, which feels like forever ago, and I’m so grateful to have been able to follow along with this series since the beginning.
Goodreads Books I Recently Added to My Shelf
I love looking through books on Goodreads to add to my Want To Read shelf – especially since I’ll occasionally go through it and just put books in my cart from there to buy. And with so many books being published and announced each week, it’s so hard to remember which ones I was interested in.
So here are some books I recently added to my Goodreads shelf!
ARC Review: The Electric Kingdom
I won an ARC of The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold from BookishFirst, so thank you BookishFirst and Penguin Teen for sending me a copy! I was pulled in by the premise and the first few chapters and wow, this book only gets better from there! I absolutely loved this story and once I got halfway through I physically could not put this book down.
Feb ’21 Mid-Month Update
It’s the middle of the month and I’m impressed with how well I’m doing on my TBR! I still have a lot of books to read this month and I’m sure some will carry over into next month, but here’s what I read, what I’m reading, and what I want to read for the rest of February!
Promo Post: Of Silver and Shadow
I am so excited to be able to help promote the book tour for Of Silver and Shadow by Jennifer Gruenke! I’ve actually already read and reviewed this book last year, before the pandemic pushed the release date forward a year, so I’m happy to help promote this title for this tour for TBR & Beyond Tours!
ARC Review: The Project
I was honestly shocked how much I loved this book and I think I’m back on a thriller kick due to this. Thank you to Wednesday Books for approving my request to read The Project through NetGalley. This has not impacted by review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Review: Shadow City
Thank you so much to Wednesday Books for sending me a finished copy for review! I was lucky enough to receive a manuscript of Diamond City back in 2019 and fell in love with this series. This may contain spoilers to the first book, Diamond City, but will not contain spoilers from Shadow City.
Many thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy and without further ado, here are my thoughts!

Valentine’s Day is Sunday and while this year is going to be very different, I think self care is always needed. So I made a list of recently published YA romance/contemporary books you need to read for Valentine’s Day! Whether you have plans with someone or not, these books are a great way to love yourself and enjoy some quality me time. Let me know if you’ve read any of these and feel free to leave suggestions for other great romance books!

Review: The King of Crows
It’s over … it’s finally over. I read the last book in the Diviners series as a buddy read with my friend Grace and I’m so sad! I loved this series so much, even if it mildly terrified me, and I want more!
If you haven’t read my review of Before the Devil Breaks You, the third book in the series, you can check it out here!
Blog Tour: Hot British Boyfriend
I am very excited to be doing another tour with TBR & Beyond Tours! Today, I am reviewing Hot British Boyfriend by Kristy Boyce including top 5 reasons why you should read this book! Be sure to head over to my Instagram to see my post over there as well, and be sure to check out the schedule for this tour! There’s also a giveaway for a finished copy of Hot British Boyfriend at the end of this post, so be sure to check it out if you’re interested!
Writing Update #5
Surprise, surprise. I actually opened up my Lost Queen manuscript and started editing. Who knew that I had it in me?
I sure didn’t.
Blog Tour: This Golden Flame
I am very excited to be able to participate in the blog tour for This Golden Flame by Emily Victoria – hosted by Inkyard Press!
Thank you for allowing me to participate and for giving me an advanced copy for review. This has not impacted my thoughts and all opinions are my own.
DNF Review: Written in Starlight
I’m honestly ashamed of myself for not catching how messed up Woven in Moonlight was, but I really appreciate being called out for starting this book. I was blind to how racist this book is, and the fact that Written in Starlight is even worse than the first book, I’m glad I could avoid suffering through it. Immediately DNFed at 5%.
Books I Refuse to Read
Have you ever picked up a book and thought “Yeah I’m never reading this”? Or a friend has tried to push you to read a book that you know you won’t like? Or heard about issues with an author or book and thought, “Good thing I found out so I can never read their stuff again”?
Well, same. And here’s that list of books I refuse to read!
Feb ’21 TBR
I realized that this should have gone up yesterday and not the January wrap up, but oh well! It is what it is…
Here’s what I’m planning to read in February 2021!
Jan ’21 Wrap Up
January was a great first month of the year. I got to read some amazing books for blog tours, as a buddy read with my friend, and just new books I loved in general!
Along with great reading goals, I’ve also been working on personal goals and have felt so good this past month. Even with all the chaos my family has experienced, things are starting to turn around for the better.
So, clearly, I’m in a good mood so here are some of the books I read this month!
February ’21 Releases I’m DYING to Read!
It’s almost February (which is unreal to me because I still feel like it’s March 2020) so it’s time to show off the February releases I’m DYING to read!
There are so many books coming out in February, so I had to choose the ones I’m DYING for – so if you don’t see your most anticipated read, it’s probably on my list! But feel free to let me know which book you’re most excited for!
Blog Tour: Wench
I am so excited that I am able to participate in the book tour for Wench by Maxine Kaplan! Thanks to TBR & Beyond Tours for allowing me to participate and thank you to Amulet Books for providing me with an e-ARC of the book for review. This has not impacted my review and all thoughts and feelings are my own.
Be sure to check out the tour schedule to see all of the other amazing posts for this tour! And stay tuned to find out more information about the giveaway TBR & Beyond Tours is hosting!

I’ve attached the list of bloggers, but please be sure to check back at the official tour schedule for links every day!
Review: Before the Devil Breaks You
I love the Diviners series, so when my friend Grace asked to buddy read this book, I said heck yeah! This is the 3rd book in The Diviner series, the first being The Diviners, second being Lair of Dreams. If you haven’t read the first two books, this post may contain spoilers, but my review overall is spoiler free.
ARC Review: The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry
I was really excited to read this book and I was so happy to receive an ARC through NetGalley! But, after reading the story, I had some issues with it that unfortunately made me have to lower my rating.
I received an eARC of The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry by C.M. Waggoner from NetGalley and Ace in exchange for an honest review. This has not impact my thoughts or feelings towards this book and all opinions are my own.
Blog Tour: Unchosen
I am so excited to be able to participate in the blog tour for Unchosen by Katharyn Blair! This was a highly anticipated book for me and it did not disappoint. Thank you to Turn the Page Tours for allowing me to participate and to Katherine Tegen Books for sending me a finished copy for review!
Be sure to check out the tour schedule to see all of the blogs for this tour, as well as the giveaway they’re hosting! And check out my Instagram for the exclusive photo I took for this tour!
Series Spotlight
On Monday I started buddy reading the third book in the Diviners series, Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray. While Libba is a best selling author of the Gemma Doyle series, I don’t see a lot of people mention or talk about the Diviners series.
So, today, I’m doing a spotlight post on this series!
What I’m Currently Reading and Watching: Part V
Life has been awful for me recently. My brother in law got into a car accident and totaled his car. He’s pretty beat up from it too and has been to the hospital twice. My aunt has COVID and I’m freaking out. My fiance, his family, and I had a COVID scare last week too. Meanwhile, we’re house hunting which is emotionally exhausting and my poor heart can’t take it anymore.
It’s been a doozy.
So I’m keeping it light here with what I’m currently reading and watching!
Top 5 Favorite Fantasy Books of 2020
2020 was a year from hell and I did a lot of escaping by reading. I have found some all new fantasy favorites of mine that I have been non-stop recommending to friends and anyone who will listen! This past year was also really hard for writers, especially debut authors, so here are some fantasy books published in 2020 that I absolutely loved!
If you’ve read any of these, let me know what you thought about them!
Review: Sadie
And another buddy read review! I read this book with my friend Grace again and I absolutely loved it. I loved the story, the varying formats, and the ending.
ARC Review: Blood Countess
I’m back again with another buddy review book review! I buddy read Blood Countess by Lana Popović with my friend Grace and it was kind of a disappointment. But I also liked it?
Welcome Post: Playing With Fire
Welcome everyone! Book Terminal Tours is very excited to be kicking off our tour of Playing With Fire by April Henry! We are featuring some amazing bloggers on this tour, so be sure to follow along with the schedule this week!
I’ve attached the list of bloggers, but please be sure to check back at the official tour schedule for links every day!
January 2021 Mid-Month Update
It’s the middle of January and that means it’s time for a mid-month update! Here are the books I’ve read, books I’m currently reading, and books I plan to read for the rest of the month of January.
ARC Review: You Have A Match
January is my catch up month, which means I’m reading a bunch of January, February, and overdue ARCs to try and play, well, catch up! We have another NetGalley ARC review today for You Have a Match by Emma Lord, which was so freaking good!
I requested a copy through NetGalley from Wednesday Books in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
NetGalley Update: January 2021
It’s been a while since I’ve done a NetGalley update and since I’m working on getting through all of these reviews, I thought it would be good motivation to show how behind I am and maybe I’ll kick myself into action!
Most of these books I did request, though some are for blog tours and others were offered by the publisher or through a giveaway.
ARC Review: Lore
I absolutely love Alex Bracken’s books, so when I saw she was writing a Greek mythology inspired standalone, I knew I needed to read this immediately. I was lucky enough to receive an e-ARC from the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This has not impacted my thoughts and all thoughts are entirely my own. This is a spoiler free review.
NEW BLOG TOUR: City of Spells
We are so excited to announce our next blog tour for City of Spells (Into the Crooked Place #2) by Alexandra Christo!
Review: Woven in Moonlight
I have always been interested in reading this book, ever since it came in a Fairyloot box last year. When I received an e-ARC of Written in Starlight, I knew I needed to get moving and read this book and I finally did! It was my final read of 2020 and I ended up loving it! But based off the ending, I’m curious how there’s going to be a sequel. While I have some ideas I’m excited to see what we have in store for us next. As for now, here are my thoughts on Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez!
Dec ’20 Wrap Up
I know I did a wrap up for 2020, which included all of the books I read in December, but this wrap up is a little more in-depth, so I’m doing it anyways! I actually love doing wrap up posts because it reminds me of the books I read and how I felt about them. It’s a nice stroll down memory lane!
ARC Review: The Quantum Weirdness of the Almost-Kiss
This was a book we did a tour for at the end of December/beginning of January, and it was too cute not to read! This was my first read of 2021 and it was a great way to start off the year.
I received an ARC from Amulet Books through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This has not impacted my rating or my thoughts on this book.
Welcome Post: Every Single Lie
Welcome everyone! Book Terminal Tours is very excited to be kicking off our tour of Every Single Lie by Rachel Vincent! We are featuring some amazing bloggers on this tour, so be sure to follow along with the schedule this week!

Dec ’20 Book Haul
December is a great month for me. It’s my birthday month, there’s Hanukkah, and Christmas and I usually walk away with a lot of wonderful presents for the year, including some new books! This month is going to be lots of books because of those events, so obviously this is not normal. Without further ado, here are the books I received/bought in the month of December!

I am so excited to be able to participate in another book tour for TBR & Beyond Tours – this time for a new contemporary fantasy, Glimpsed by G.F. Miller! Thank you again TBR & Beyond Tours for allowing me to participate – I absolutely adored this book and I can’t wait to share my review and 15 thoughts I had while reading Glimpsed!
Be sure to check out the schedule for other amazing posts! The tour starts today, January 5th and goes through January 11th!
ARC Review: Super Fake Love Song
I was lucky enough to receive this ARC from Penguin Teen and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This has not impacted my opinion of this book – all thoughts are my own.
Thanks again Penguin for allowing me to review this title early (even though I was a little late in getting it out). I was so excited to read this new book from David Yoon and it did not disappoint!
My Year in Books – 2020 Wrap Up
I thought it would be fun to do a wrap up for this year and show everything I read in 2020! I read a total of 111 books this year and my goal was 100, so I’m really happy with the fact that I beat my goal this year!
To make it easy, I’m going to separate them by month so you can see how much my reading exploded after quarantine started.
January 2021 TBR
Now that we are jumping into the New Year, I’m jumping back into my ARC TBR. I have a lot of ARCs I’m overdue on and a lot of upcoming ARCs to read. While I also have a very large finished copy TBR, I want to try and get my NetGalley rating higher and so I’m focusing on these books right now.
So here are the books I’m planning to read in January!
January ’21 Releases I’m DYING to Read
2021 is two days away…
I know, I’m freaking out too!
This means we’re entering into a new month with new releases that I can get excited for! So here are the January releases I’m DYING to read!
Review: A Universe of Wishes
I posted my welcome post for A Universe of Wishes anthology edited by Dhonielle Clayton earlier this month, but I never posted my full review. So here are my thoughts on this anthology!
Thank you again to Penguin Teen for supplying me with a finished copy for review. This has not impacted my thoughts or opinions on this book.
Review: A Sky Beyond the Storm
The final book in the An Ember in the Ashes series, A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir has officially crushed my soul. Did I expect to be upset once the series ended? Yes. Did it still hit me hard? Absolutely. I cried like a little baby once the story was over and I’m just so glad I was able to follow along this journey. Here is my spoiler free review!
Festive Christmas Book Tag
It’s Christmas today, and while I’m Jewish, I also have lots of friends and some family who celebrate Christmas, so what better way to help celebrate than with a Festive Christmas Book Tag!? I found this tag on Jenniely‘s blog, but it was originally posted by GirlReading on YouTube. I love the Holiday’s and December in general, not only because it’s my birthday month, but because it just feels like such a joyful, thankful time.
Mini Review: How the Prince of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories
It’s Christmas Eve Eve, I’ve been drinking, and I don’t have anything planned for today, so it’s a great day to do a mini review! Today, I am reviewing How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black. This is a short story collection told from the perspective of Cardan from The Cruel Prince. If you have not read the trilogy yet, this short story collection will spoil you for the series, so please be warned.
The Holiday Drinks Book Tag
It’s Christmas Eve Eve, so what better way to get in some holiday cheer than with a book tag! It was so hard to decide between the two recent tags I saw on Alexa @ Writing the Universe, but I decided to settle on this one! This tag is originally from Waves of Pages – so be sure to check out the original post and Alexa’s post for their answers! And if you decide to do this book tag, be sure to tag me so I can see what your responses are too!
ARC Review: Rebel Sisters
I finally finished it! I started reading this book on December 6th and finished it on December 21st. TWO WEEKS. It took me two weeks to finish this book because A Vow So Bold and Deadly put me in a reading slump! Ugh!
Anyways! Yes, I finally finished Rebel Sisters by Tochi Onyebuchi. If you haven’t read War Girls yet, I highly suggest checking out my spoiler free review of that book. This review may contain spoilers for the first book though it will be a spoiler free review. I received an ARC from Razorbill through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This has not impacted my review and all opinions are my own.
Five Books I Bought Solely Based on their Covers
I’m back again with another collab with Alexa @ Writing the Universe! Today, we are going over five books we bought solely based on their covers and rating whether we would buy them or not. I know, I know, you shouldn’t judge a book based on its cover, but if you saw what books we’re talking about today, you would understand these are a necessity. I am a total sucker for a gorgeous book cover and if a book is pretty and fits in a genre I like to read, I will buy it. So today, here are some books I bought solely based on their covers, and Alexa’s opinion on whether she would do the same!
Books Amazon Made Me Buy: Part II
It’s been a little while since I’ve done this post and since then I have been pressured to buy so many more books from Amazon. Any time I open my BookBub emails or go on Amazon, I end up getting more books. Usually about $0.99 or free, depending on what’s available.
So here’s some of the titles I’ve recently gotten from Amazon!
Mini Review: The Princess and the Pawn
Today, I’m doing a mini review for The Princess and the Pawn (The Raven and the Dove #0.5) by Kaitlyn Davis. This is a prequel novella for The Raven and the Dove, which if you haven’t read, you absolutely need to! I will link my review here for that book. You can definitely read the prequel before reading the first book, as it’s intended, although it’s not necessary to read the first book.
Disney Book Tag
When I saw Star was doing this tag, I got so excited! This is such a fun tag so thank you Star @ Star is All Booked Up for tagging me in this! Originally from Kat @ Katytastic on YouTube. I’m not going to tag anyone, but if you end up doing this tag, feel free to tag me in the comments so I can see your responses!
December 2020 Mid-Month Update
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe 2021 is in THREE WEEKS. That is way too soon for comfort! I can’t believe the disaster that was 2020 is almost over and while I’m so excited for it to not be 2020 anymore, I’m also terrified of what’s to come.
So, what better way to distract myself from the chaos of the New Year than with a mid-month update!
ARC Review: Soulswift
Today I am reviewing Soulswift by Megan Bannen. No joke, this book is a perfect combination of Serpent & Dove and Wicked Saints in terms of some tropes and the overall vibes. Forced marriage between two enemies? Check. Religious differences impacting the fate of the world? Check. Creepy, disturbing monsters hunting main characters in the woods? Check again!
ARC Review: A Vow So Bold and Deadly
This is such a hard review for me to write. I loved A Curse So Dark and Lonely and when I received an ARC of A Vow So Bold and Deadly in the mail, I damn near fainted. Now, the series is over and I just – I’m dead. This review might be a mix of coherent thoughts and babble, but bear with me! Just know that this book is amazing and I loved every second of it!
Gift Giving Guide for Bookworms
Chanukah (Hanukkah) starts tonight (Thursday, December 10th) and Christmas is coming up soon, so I thought “what’s better than giving gift ideas for bookworms!” So here we are. Here are some gift ideas for bookworms this Holiday season!
NaNoWriMo 2020: FINAL UPDATE
I am so late on this post, but better late than never, right? It’s finally here, my final NaNoWriMo post for 2020!!

Nov ’20 Book Haul
I haven’t done a haul post in a while (excluding my B&N haul I did a couple weeks ago) so here is what I received in the month of November! This includes birthday gifts, books I bought, blog tour/giveaway books, and books I requested on NetGalley. And well, it’s a lot of books. So sorry!
Blog Tour + Favorite Quotes: The Bitterwine Oath
Today I am so excited to be able to participate in the book tour for The Bitterwine Oath by Hannah West. Thank you to TBR & Beyond Tours and Holiday House for letting me participate in this tour! You can follow along with the tour schedule here.
I received an advance copy of this title from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This has not impacted my review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
November 2020 Wrap Up
Another month, another wrap up post!
Okay, so I did horribly this month with reading. Better than I expected, but still horrible. Thankfully, I have a lot more free time in December, so hopefully next month’s wrap up will be a lot more fun! But for today, here’s what I read in November.
December 2020 TBR
It’s the first day of December (holy crap it’s December!) and that means it’s time for my December TBR! It’s also MY BIRTHDAY! I’ll be offline most of today, but if you want to wish me a happy birthday, you can in the comments or on Twitter (@wewrite_atdawn)!
Life Update and Currently Reading!
Hey everyone! I have some exciting news and I wanted to let you know what’s going on in my life. Plus, gotta keep it bookish – so here’s what I’m currently reading!
Books I’m Buying for Black Friday
Barnes & Noble has a Black Friday sale every year and has special signed books they put on sale! I usually wake up early and go with my friend Emma so we can buy the books once the stores opens. Last year they changed it to an entire weekend event (probably to avoid morning crowd) and that means it’s a little more relaxed. I’m still probably going to call and ask to put books on hold if possible and make my way there tomorrow! Or on my birthday.
Here are some books I’m planning on buying for the Black Friday sale!
Books I’m Thankful For
Happy Thanksgiving American friends! I’m super late on this post, I’m sorry! I’m making the desserts for my family’s Thanksgiving dinner, so I’m a little stressed. I completely forgot to schedule a post for today, so here are some books I’m thankful for!
NaNoWriMo 2020 Update #3
Review: War Girls
Today I am reviewing War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi – the first in the War Girls duology! I received an ARC of this book back at ALA 2019 and just never got a chance to read it. But now that the second book is out, I knew I had to jump on it and see what the hype is about and oh. my. gosh. I loved this book!
Underrated Books You Should Read Now
There are so many amazing books in the world and a few of them are not getting the recognition they deserve. I feel like some books are over recommended over sometimes even overhyped, while other titles are pushed to the sidelines.
So, here are some books I think are underrated and if you haven’t read them, you should read them now! All current reviews will be linked too if you want to check them out!
What I’m Currently Reading and Watching: Part IV
Happy Friday everyone! Today is a lazy day, especially since I’m writing this Friday morning, late. So, we’re going to be doing something easy and going over books I’m currently reading and shows I’m currently watching!
NEW BLOG TOUR: Playing With Fire
We are so excited to announce our next blog tour for Playing With Fire by April Henry!
December Releases I’m DYING to Read
December is my birthday month and this year I’m blessed to have it fall on a Tuesday, which is book release day! So here are the top books I’m DYING to read in December and will mostly likely buy on my birthday!
NaNoWriMo 2020 Update #2
Hey everyone, I’m back at it again with another NaNoWriMo writing update! If you missed my first update, you can check it out here. The pat week has been pretty intense and a lot has changed since then.
ARC Review: The Camelot Betrayal
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Camelot Betrayal by Kiersten White from Delcorte Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The Camelot Betrayal is the second book in Camelot Rising trilogy, the first book being The Guinevere Deception. If you have not read The Guinevere Deception, I would recommend you head over to my spoiler free review of that book instead.
This review may include spoilers to The Guinevere Deception, but will not include spoilers for The Camelot Betrayal. This is a spoiler free review.
November 2020 Mid-Month Update
It’s that time of the month! Here is my mid-month update with all the books I read, the books I’m reading, and the books I plan to read for the month of November!
Books Amazon Made Me Buy
I own a kindle so sometimes I like to browse through the free or $0.99 books to see what there is. And it’s usually a lot. I’m also subscribed to the BookBub email, so I get alerts on kindle deals every day – which makes it even harder to resist books when they show up for free in my email.
Here are some of the more recent books Amazon made me buy!
ARC Review: Rebel Rose
I am so excited for the review I’m doing today! This was a highly anticipated book for me and I freaked out when I was approved for it on NetGalley!
Today I am reviewing The Queen’s Council: Rebel Rose by Emma Theriault. I received a copy for review from NetGalley and Disney Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
NaNoWriMo 2020 Update #1
I had planned to post this on Monday but I forgot . . . so you’re getting it today!
This is the first year I’ve done NaNoWriMo without immediately failing and it feels really good! I’m excited to provide this update because I wasn’t sure how well NaNo was going to go this year for me, but so far, I’m pleasantly surprised!

Synopsis
An authentic novel about growing up in a migrant Asian family with a mother who is suffering from a debilitating mental illness.
Anna Chiu has her hands full. When she’s not looking after her brother and sister or helping out at her father’s restaurant, she’s taking care of her mother, whose debilitating mental illness keeps her in bed most days. Her father’s new delivery boy, Rory, is a welcome distraction and even though she knows that things aren’t right at home, she’s starting to feel like she could be a normal teen.
But when her mother finally gets out of bed, things go from bad to worse. And as her mother’s condition worsens, Anna and her family question everything they understand about themselves and each other.
The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling is a heart-wrenching, true-to-life exploration through the often neglected crevices of culture, mental illness, and family. Its strong themes are balanced by a beautiful romance making it a feel-good, yet important read.

Tag was found on Flora’s Musings but original post is from Sajiid @ Books Are My Social Life

How To Get Out of a Reading Slump
Reading slumps are the bane of my existence. Every time I’m on a roll with reading and feel motivated, I’m hit with a bus and left withering on the floor.
And of course, fail at whatever goal I was trying to succeed at.
October 2020 Wrap Up
The beginning of this month I was doing so well! But after the middle of the month, I only managed to read TWO books. Ugh. Out of ten books total, I’m a bit disappointed with myself, but oh well. There’s nothing I can do about it now.
Anyways! Here’s my October 2020 Wrap Up!
BLOG TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT
Book Terminal Tours is excited to announce our next blog tour for EVERY SINGLE LIE by Rachel Vincent!
Exploring My Kindle TBR
Every so often I go on my kindle and cry at how many free books i’ve downloaded, whether through NetGalley or Amazon sales, that I haven’t read! Plus all the ones that I did pay for and also haven’t read.
Someone needs to take my credit card away from me because I clearly have no self control. I guess the only thing I can do is expose myself as the addict I am – so let’s explore my kindle TBR!
November 2020 TBR
Since I’m doing NaNoWriMo in November, my focus for reading is getting through the upcoming November releases I need to read. I have lots of NetGalley ARCs that I need to get through and read so I’ll basically only be reading those!
Review: The Guinevere Deception
I have had an ARC of The Guinevere Deception sitting on my shelf since June 2019, staring at me. Finally, I picked it up and started reading it then *boom* – I get the ARC of Camelot Betrayal and it’s game time.
It took some time for me to get through and read this book, but not because it was bad. The opposite. It was amazing.
Series I Haven’t Finished Yet
I am a culprit in starting series and not finishing them. Sometimes, it’s because other books come out and I forget to read the new ones. Other times, I’ve been destroyed by one book that I refuse the read the rest until the series is complete.
Here are some series that I haven’t finished yet!
November Releases I’m Dying to Read
With November coming crashing around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about books I want to order/pre-order for November!
So what better way to organize my TBR than doing a post about November releases that I am really excited for!?
Exposing My TBR Shelf
Since moving into my apartment, I have acquired three new bookshelves, one in my bedroom and two in my guest room. The shelf in my bedroom serves as my TBR shelf – all of the physical books that I haven’t read yet and need to. No, this does not include the 500 or so books at my parents house that I may or may not have read yet, but we’re just going to ignore those . . .
So I thought, why not expose my TBR shelf?
BLOG TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT
Book Terminal Tours is excited to announce our next blog tour for THE QUANTUM WEIRDNESS OF THE ALMOST KISS by Amy Noelle Parks!
Halloween 2020 Book Tag
Since it’s the week of Halloween, I thought it would be the perfect time to do the Halloween Book Tag!
I wasn’t tagged by anyone but was just looking for some Halloween related tags. I saw this one everywhere and it was originally created by Naomi The Book Lover over on YouTube.
ARC Review: Beyond the Ruby Veil
I managed to trade for an ARC of Beyond the Ruby Veil by Mara Fitzgerald a couple of months ago. I had heard great things about this book, so I wanted to read it for myself, and it was so good!
If You Read This, Then You’ll Like This: Fantasy Edition
The hardest thing for me, once I finish a book, is finding another book to read! Sometimes I want something along the same lines as what I just read and not being able to find something that satiates that hunger is so frustrating. So, here are some book recommendations for fantasy books if you’re struggling to find a new book to read!
Currently Reading & Watching: Part III
October has been a crazy month and while I’ve been reading a lot, I’m also doing a lot of work on the book tours, my actual job, and other adult things. You know, like cooking, cleaning, crying because I’m stressed – the usual!
Anyways, I wanted something light to post today, so here’s what I’m currently reading and watching!
ARC Review: Among the Beasts and Briars
This is the first book by Ashley Poston that I’ve read, so I didn’t have any preconceived ideas of her writing style or her books in general. So when I received this book, I was open and leapt in blindly.
I’m sincerely regretting not reading more of her books.
ARC Review: The Cup and the Prince
I received an eARC of The Cup and the Prince by Day Leitao from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
This was such an interesting fantasy that, at first, I wasn’t sure where it was going, but soon, I was absolutely hooked.
The Enola Holmes Book Tag
Thanks again to Cielo for tagging me in this new book tag! I recently watched Enola Holmes and absolutely loved it, so there was no way I was going to pass up doing this tag!
October 2020 Mid-Month Update
It’s time for another mid-month update! This month has been absolutely wild and I’m shocked I was able to read as much as I have. I still have a long way to go, especially since October TBR is trying to kill me, but I’m proud of myself!
ARC Review: Kingdom of the Wicked
I finished Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco in the beginning of September and wrote my review immediately after, but wanted to wait until AFTER the #GetWickedTour ended to post my review. Thank you JIMMY Patterson Books for sending me a copy! We’re so thankful you got to be our first ever tour!
I’m going to be formatting my post as if I am a part of the blog tour, though technically, I’m not. So if you’re confused, sorry about that! It’s just a fun way for me to include everything and express my love for this book!
If you haven’t been following along, please take a minute to check out the other posts from the tour and give the bloggers and bookstagrammers some love! You can access the schedule here.
Blog Tour: Winter, White and Wicked
I am so excited to be participating in my first blog tour with TBR and Beyond Tours! Today is the first day of the tour, so I will link the schedule here so you can follow along!
This book was such a unique fantasy, I’ve never read anything like it! And based off the ending, I have a feeling I’m going to love book 2!
Blog Tour: Kingdom of Sea and Stone
I am so excited that I got to participate in TBR and Beyond’s tour of Kingdom of Sea and Stone! I loved Crown of Coral and Pearl and was so excited to see that there was a sequel! If you missed the other tour stops, check out the schedule here to see other posts!
My Favorite Book Bloggers
On Wednesday (10/7), book twitter went wild after an author ranted about a blogger asking for payment to review their book.
That’s a discussion for another day though.
In that rant, lots of people talked about supporting book bloggers as we are generally overworked, under appreciated, and usually the first group people shit on when discussing compensation. So today, I want to take the time and shout out some of my favorite book bloggers!
DNF Review: How to Break an Evil Curse
I am not someone who normally DNFs (did not finish) a book, but this one pushed my buttons.
I received a copy of How to Break an Evil Curse by Laura Morrison from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was marketed as a high fantasy, which it is not, and I just could not get through it.
ARC Review: A Golden Fury
I received a copy of A Golden Fury by Samantha Cohoe from NetGalley and Wednesday Books in exchange for an honest review.
I found myself unable to put this book down while I was reading it. It’s an intense read that asks a lot of philosophical questions. A lush realistic fantasy that warns the readers – what will you give up for power?
Spooky Books to Read for a Haunting Halloween
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and this year is going to be a bit different. I know I’m probably going to end up reading while eating candy all day and maybe even watch a scary movie. So, to prep for my reading binge, here’s some spooky books to read for a haunting halloween!
Review: Skyhunter
I’ve only read one other Marie Lu book besides Skyhunter, which was The Kingdom of Back. I loved that book so much, so I was excited that I won a copy of Skyhunter from Bookish First!
From the first page I knew I was going to love this book and it did not disappoint!
Fall Time, Cozy Time Book Tag
It’s almost fall which means I have to prepare myself with all the fun fall things like tags, recommendations, and the holidays!
I saw this post on Erin @ Rins Reads blog and I thought it was so cute! Fall is my favorite season, so of course I have to do a fall time book tag to welcome in the best season of all!
