I managed to get an ARC of this book right before release on NetGalley, but it wasn’t until I purchased a physical copy at B&N that I got motivated to read it. See, I knew I was going to love this book (and obviously I was right) so it made sense to just buy a copy and I’m so glad I did. I loved this book so much and I can’t wait for the sequel!
I talk a lot about young adult books, which I absolutely love, but I also read adult fiction too and I feel like I don’t give that section of books enough love.
So today, I’m going to highlight adult fiction books I love. Now, I am pretty new to the adult fiction world, so some of these may be well-known favorites. If you have any recommendations for books I should read next based on these, please let me know! I’m always looking for more recommendations!

I’m technically reading two books right now, A Dark and Hollow Star and I’m also reading When We Were Infinite by Kelly Loy Gilbert right now. I’m hoping to finish both of these by the weekend, so I can get started on some blog tour books that I need to read before the end of the month! I’m also doing some non-fiction reading too, so I feel like I have even less time to read and review books right now.
I was so excited for this book. I really, really was. But once I started reading it, the only thing I could think of was “please stop”. It was tragic.
I was so excited when I received an ARC of Namesake from Wednesday Books, all I wanted to do was drop everything and read this. Sadly, life gets in the way, but I was finally able to read this book and I loved it! If you haven’t read Fable yet, be sure to check out my spoiler free review here.
I won a copy of What Big Teeth from BookishFirst after reading a sneak preview on their site. The prologue and first chapter got me so excited for this book, but after reading it, it didn’t live up to my hopes.
It’s April 1st and while I’m not big into pranks and stuff, I really did play myself with reading this month. I was on track to finish all the books I wanted to read for this month, but life did not want me to finish reading them. Every time I think I’m going to finish my TBR and have time to read extra books, it doesn’t happen. In March, I was halfway through the month and was doing so well, then our offer was accepted on a house and I had zero time and motivation to read.
So for April, even though there are so many books I want to put down on my TBR, I’m sticking with nine. Three are for blog tours, five are all NetGalley books I need to read and review, and one is a TBR book my friends are dying for me to read. If I have extra time available, I am absolutely reading other books as well, but for now I’m going to be realistic. Most likely I’ll be busy with packing and moving and unpacking, so it’s better to keep my expectations low.

I finally finished this book! It has been so hard trying to find time to read these past few weeks. If you weren’t aware, my fiance and I are currently in the process of buying a house! And at the same time, I’m also unfortunately dealing with some medical issues and too many doctors appointments. Oh and this week is the week of Passover.
I’m a little busy. So trying to read has been pretty difficult. But, I finally found time to finish this amazing book and I’m so desperate for more!

I mentioned in my post yesterday that I am currently reading The Theft of Sunlight by Intisar Khanani and I’m loving it! Since the book came out on Tuesday, I thought today would be a great day to do a series highlight!
This is my first time participating in WWW Wednesday but I thought it was fitting for the week I’ve had! I haven’t finished reading anything this whole week and a half due to stress and other things, like buying a house. So here’s a small update.
I don’t like posting rants on my blog. It makes me feel icky and like I’m complaining, which I guess I technically am, but that’s besides the point.

We are almost to the end of March and I’m already planning my April TBR. I have so many books I want to purchase and read, so here’s my current TBR list for April with books I want to buy!
Have you ever read a book and even after you put it down, you can’t stop thinking about it? I have read so many good books recently – like all 5 star reads – and I can’t stop thinking about these books! Some are just so well written, others are mind-blowing plots, and some just hit my soul and changed me.
Here are some books that I can’t stop thinking about!
I have been working my butt off to get through the NetGalley books I have and get my score up above 80%. When I started I was at 70% and stayed there for months as more and more books were approved. I recently (finally) hit 80% on my account and have worked to get below 20 books for so long.
Immediately after finishing Havenfall, I picked up Phoenix Flame and read it in one sitting. At just under 300 pages, I devoured this book to find out what happens next and now I’m curious if this series is a duology or a trilogy…
And here we go again – another ALA 2019 book that I had sitting on my shelf for forever before I finally picked it up… Today, I am reviewing Havenfall by Sara Holland, an ARC that I managed to snag and just haven’t had the time to pick up. I finally decided to read it because I also had an ARC of Phoenix Flame sitting on my kindle that I had to read – so I read both!
I feel like this year is just flying by. We’re already almost three months into the year, we’ve hit the 1 year mark since the pandemic began (for my state), and it’s already the middle of March! Time is absolutely flying. So to slow things down a little, here’s a mid-month update on what I read, what I’m reading, and what I want to read for the rest of March!
Today, I am reviewing one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2021 – Sing Me Forgotten by Jessica S. Olson! This is a genderbent Phantom of the Opera retelling with magic and I was so excited to be a part of this tour! Ever since this book came on my radar, I knew I was going to love it. This book took what I thought I knew, twisted it on its head, and spat it back at me. I am still reeling at what I read.
I could not believe I am able to participate in this blog tour for Sweet & Bitter Magic. This is one of my most anticipated reads and WOW did it live up to that expectation! I am not joking when I say that I’m obsessed with this book and I need a series continuation of at least 10 more please.

On Saturday I went to B&N because I had a $250 VISA gift card I won from work and I went wild! I bought 10 books and still had money left over on the gift card. I haven’t done a large book haul in a while and all of the books I bought are ones I have been dying to read.
This book has been on my radar for a while, especially since my blog tour company, Book Terminal Tours, did a blog tour for this book! Seeing everyone’s amazing reviews and gorgeous posts got me so hyped for this book and while I have some qualms with it, this book definitely lives up to its hype.

This is my first Veronica Roth book and it was one that I actually wished for and my wish was granted on NetGalley! It took me a while to getting around to reading it and this book ended up being very middle of the road for me. Not great, but not bad.
It’s March… I cannot believe that it is March 2021 and I’ve been trapped in my home for TWELVE MONTHS.
I guess it’s time for another wrap up post – so here’s all the books I read in February!
I have been reading a lot of books about grief recently. A person I was friends with in high school passed away from cancer a few weeks ago. We weren’t close, but I knew her. Spent time with her. Watched her journey from diagnosis to the end, and it broke me to hear she had passed. In fact, three people from my school have passed from cancer. Two people I knew and was friends with.
Reading these books about grief have helped me understand my own. My sadness, my grief, my frustration. This book took me on Amelia’s journey to accept the loss of her best friend and I will tell you, I sobbed.
It feels so weird to post my TBR for next month on the 26th, but since there’s only two more days of February, I think it has to go up early.
I’m so proud of how much I read last month, I almost got caught up on my ARC TBR (which is the first time I can say this in months) so not much is being carried over into March thankfully. Here’s what I plan to read in March 2021.
I really don’t like having to put down a book before I finish it. It’s just a sad feeling, but I could not push through this book. Maybe one day I’ll come back to revisit this story and see if I can understand what’s going on, but as of right now, I had to stop at 25%.
I was given an e-ARC of City of the Uncommon Thief from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This has not impacted my review and all thoughts and feelings are my own.
I was lucky enough to win a physical ARC of Down Comes the Night from Allison in one of her giveaways (which I’m still screaming about!) and received a digital ARC from Wednesday Books through NetGalley. This is one of my most anticipated reads for 2021 and I absolutely loved it. If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers, only one bed trope, and some strange, but awesome magic – then keep reading!
I finally was able to read my copy of ACOSF and I loved it. I connected with Nesta’s journey a lot and found ways to help myself heal through her story, so if you’re not a fan of SJM and were planning on coming to my blog to harass me for reading this book, please don’t. I know SJM is a polarized author, I know not everyone supports her, but her books have really helped me face my own trauma and mental health and I appreciate her writing about those experiences.

I read Crave several months ago and fell in love with it. After that ending, I was so curious to see where this series was heading and how we were going to have any more books! I finished the Seafire trilogy and I’m so sad!! But thank you to Penguin Teen for sending me a finished copy for review. I have loved this series since June 2018, which feels like forever ago, and I’m so grateful to have been able to follow along with this series since the beginning.

I was pulled in by the premise and the first few chapters and wow, this book only gets better from there! I absolutely loved this story and once I got halfway through I physically could not put this book down.

I’m honestly ashamed of myself for not catching how messed up Woven in Moonlight was, but I really appreciate being called out for starting this book. I was blind to how racist this book is, and the fact that Written in Starlight is even worse than the first book, I’m glad I could avoid suffering through it. Immediately DNFed at 5%.

On Monday I started buddy reading the third book in the Diviners series, Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray. While Libba is a best selling author of the Gemma Doyle series, I don’t see a lot of people mention or talk about the Diviners series.
So, today, I’m doing a spotlight post on this series!
Life has been awful for me recently. My brother in law got into a car accident and totaled his car. He’s pretty beat up from it too and has been to the hospital twice. My aunt has COVID and I’m freaking out. My fiance, his family, and I had a COVID scare last week too. Meanwhile, we’re house hunting which is emotionally exhausting and my poor heart can’t take it anymore.
It’s been a doozy.
So I’m keeping it light here with what I’m currently reading and watching!
2020 was a year from hell and I did a lot of escaping by reading. I have found some all new fantasy favorites of mine that I have been non-stop recommending to friends and anyone who will listen! This past year was also really hard for writers, especially debut authors, so here are some fantasy books published in 2020 that I absolutely loved!

But based off the ending, I’m curious how there’s going to be a sequel. While I have some ideas I’m excited to see what we have in store for us next. I thought it would be fun to do a wrap up for this year and show everything I read in 2020! I read a total of 111 books this year and my goal was 100, so I’m really happy with the fact that I beat my goal this year!
To make it easy, I’m going to separate them by month so you can see how much my reading exploded after quarantine started.
Now that we are jumping into the New Year, I’m jumping back into my ARC TBR. I have a lot of ARCs I’m overdue on and a lot of upcoming ARCs to read. While I also have a very large finished copy TBR, I want to try and get my NetGalley rating higher and so I’m focusing on these books right now.

The final book in the An Ember in the Ashes series, A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir has officially crushed my soul. Did I expect to be upset once the series ended? Yes. Did it still hit me hard? Absolutely. I cried like a little baby once the story was over and I’m just so glad I was able to follow along this journey. Here is my spoiler free review!

It’s Christmas Eve Eve, I’ve been drinking, and I don’t have anything planned for today, so it’s a great day to do a mini review! Today, I am reviewing How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black. This is a short story collection told from the perspective of Cardan from The Cruel Prince. If you have not read the trilogy yet, this short story collection will spoil you for the series, so please be warned.

I finally finished it! I started reading this book on December 6th and finished it on December 21st. TWO WEEKS. It took me two weeks to finish this book because A Vow So Bold and Deadly put me in a reading slump! Ugh!
Anyways! Yes, I finally finished Rebel Sisters by Tochi Onyebuchi. If you haven’t read War Girls yet, I highly suggest checking out my spoiler free review of that book. I’m back again with another collab with Alexa @ Writing the Universe! Today, we are going over five books we bought solely based on their covers and rating whether we would buy them or not. I know, I know, you shouldn’t judge a book based on its cover, but if you saw what books we’re talking about today, you would understand these are a necessity. I am a total sucker for a gorgeous book cover and if a book is pretty and fits in a genre I like to read, I will buy it. So today, here are some books I bought solely based on their covers, and Alexa’s opinion on whether she would do the same!
It’s been a little while since I’ve done this post and since then I have been pressured to buy so many more books from Amazon. Any time I open my BookBub emails or go on Amazon, I end up getting more books. Usually about $0.99 or free, depending on what’s available.
So here’s some of the titles I’ve recently gotten from Amazon!
Today, I’m doing a mini review for The Princess and the Pawn (The Raven and the Dove #0.5) by Kaitlyn Davis. This is a prequel novella for The Raven and the Dove, which if you haven’t read, you absolutely need to! I will link my review here for that book. You can definitely read the prequel before reading the first book, as it’s intended, although it’s not necessary to read the first book.

Oh my gosh, I can’t believe 2021 is in THREE WEEKS. That is way too soon for comfort! I can’t believe the disaster that was 2020 is almost over and while I’m so excited for it to not be 2020 anymore, I’m also terrified of what’s to come.
So, what better way to distract myself from the chaos of the New Year than with a mid-month update!
Today I am reviewing Soulswift by Megan Bannen. No joke, this book is a perfect combination of Serpent & Dove and Wicked Saints in terms of some tropes and the overall vibes. Forced marriage between two enemies? Check. Religious differences impacting the fate of the world? Check. Creepy, disturbing monsters hunting main characters in the woods? Check again!
This is such a hard review for me to write. I loved A Curse So Dark and Lonely and when I received an ARC of A Vow So Bold and Deadly in the mail, I damn near fainted. Now, the series is over and I just – I’m dead. This review might be a mix of coherent thoughts and babble, but bear with me! Just know that this book is amazing and I loved every second of it!

Okay, so I did horribly this month with reading. Better than I expected, but still horrible. Thankfully, I have a lot more free time in December, so hopefully next month’s wrap up will be a lot more fun! But for today, here’s what I read in November.

Barnes & Noble has a Black Friday sale every year and has special signed books they put on sale! I usually wake up early and go with my friend Emma so we can buy the books once the stores opens. Last year they changed it to an entire weekend event (probably to avoid morning crowd) and that means it’s a little more relaxed. I’m still probably going to call and ask to put books on hold if possible and make my way there tomorrow! Or on my birthday.

Today I am reviewing War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi – the first in the War Girls duology! I received an ARC of this book back at ALA 2019 and just never got a chance to read it. But now that the second book is out, I knew I had to jump on it and see what the hype is about and oh. my. gosh. I loved this book!
There are so many amazing books in the world and a few of them are not getting the recognition they deserve. I feel like some books are over recommended over sometimes even overhyped, while other titles are pushed to the sidelines.

I own a kindle so sometimes I like to browse through the free or $0.99 books to see what there is. And it’s usually a lot. I’m also subscribed to the BookBub email, so I get alerts on kindle deals every day – which makes it even harder to resist books when they show up for free in my email.

Reading slumps are the bane of my existence. Every time I’m on a roll with reading and feel motivated, I’m hit with a bus and left withering on the floor.
And of course, fail at whatever goal I was trying to succeed at.
The beginning of this month I was doing so well! But after the middle of the month, I only managed to read TWO books. Ugh. Out of ten books total, I’m a bit disappointed with myself, but oh well. There’s nothing I can do about it now.

Every so often I go on my kindle and cry at how many free books i’ve downloaded, whether through NetGalley or Amazon sales, that I haven’t read! Plus all the ones that I did pay for and also haven’t read.
Someone needs to take my credit card away from me because I clearly have no self control. I guess the only thing I can do is expose myself as the addict I am – so let’s explore my kindle TBR!
Since I’m doing NaNoWriMo in November, my focus for reading is getting through the upcoming November releases I need to read. I have lots of NetGalley ARCs that I need to get through and read so I’ll basically only be reading those!
I have had an ARC of The Guinevere Deception sitting on my shelf since June 2019, staring at me. Finally, I picked it up and started reading it then *boom* – I get the ARC of Camelot Betrayal and it’s game time.
It took some time for me to get through and read this book, but not because it was bad. The opposite. It was amazing.
I am a culprit in starting series and not finishing them. Sometimes, it’s because other books come out and I forget to read the new ones. Other times, I’ve been destroyed by one book that I refuse the read the rest until the series is complete.

Since moving into my apartment, I have acquired three new bookshelves, one in my bedroom and two in my guest room. The shelf in my bedroom serves as my TBR shelf – all of the physical books that I haven’t read yet and need to. No, this does not include the 500 or so books at my parents house that I may or may not have read yet, but we’re just going to ignore those . . .

I managed to trade for an ARC of Beyond the Ruby Veil by Mara Fitzgerald a couple of months ago. I had heard great things about this book, so I wanted to read it for myself, and it was so good!
The hardest thing for me, once I finish a book, is finding another book to read! Sometimes I want something along the same lines as what I just read and not being able to find something that satiates that hunger is so frustrating. So, here are some book recommendations for fantasy books if you’re struggling to find a new book to read!

This is the first book by Ashley Poston that I’ve read, so I didn’t have any preconceived ideas of her writing style or her books in general. So when I received this book, I was open and leapt in blindly.
I’m sincerely regretting not reading more of her books.

This was such an interesting fantasy that, at first, I wasn’t sure where it was going, but soon, I was absolutely hooked.

It’s time for another mid-month update! This month has been absolutely wild and I’m shocked I was able to read as much as I have. I still have a long way to go, especially since October TBR is trying to kill me, but I’m proud of myself!
I finished Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco in the beginning of September and wrote my review immediately after, but wanted to wait until AFTER the #GetWickedTour ended to post my review. On Wednesday (10/7), book twitter went wild after an author ranted about a blogger asking for payment to review their book.
That’s a discussion for another day though.
In that rant, lots of people talked about supporting book bloggers as we are generally overworked, under appreciated, and usually the first group people shit on when discussing compensation. So today, I want to take the time and shout out some of my favorite book bloggers!
I am not someone who normally DNFs (did not finish) a book, but this one pushed my buttons.
I received a copy of How to Break an Evil Curse by Laura Morrison from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was marketed as a high fantasy, which it is not, and I just could not get through it.
I received a copy of A Golden Fury by Samantha Cohoe from NetGalley and Wednesday Books in exchange for an honest review.
I found myself unable to put this book down while I was reading it. It’s an intense read that asks a lot of philosophical questions. A lush realistic fantasy that warns the readers – what will you give up for power?
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and this year is going to be a bit different. I know I’m probably going to end up reading while eating candy all day and maybe even watch a scary movie. So, to prep for my reading binge, here’s some spooky books to read for a haunting halloween!
I’ve only read one other Marie Lu book besides Skyhunter, which was The Kingdom of Back. I loved that book so much, so I was excited that I won a copy of Skyhunter from Bookish First!
From the first page I knew I was going to love this book and it did not disappoint!
It’s almost fall which means I have to prepare myself with all the fun fall things like tags, recommendations, and the holidays!
