I’m sure we all know a book snob – someone who thinks they’re better than everyone else because they read “real fiction”, whether that’s a certain genre, a certain format, or just because they think their taste is better than everyone else. I don’t think I’m a book snob, but this tag looked like so much fun, I can pretend!
I found this tag on Jen Jen Reviews blog, so be sure to check out their responses too!
ADAPTATION SNOB
Do you always read the book before watching the film/ TV show?
I would love to answer yes, but the truth is, not always. Sometimes I find a show or movie and watch it and only realize later on that it’s a book series. For example, Brigerton: I watched the show and loved it, only to find out later on that it’s a book series. And I want to watch The Witcher, which is also a book series, but not sure if I want to read the books first. So while I want to say yes, the answer is no.
FORMAT SNOB
You can only choose 1 format in which to read books for the rest of your life. Which one do you choose: physical books, eBooks, or audiobooks?
This is tough, because I love physical books and e-books, but I would have to choose physical books. While e-books are super convenient and easy to carry around, there’s nothing like holding a physical book in your hands and turning the pages! And the smell! Ugh, I love it all.
SHIP SNOB
Would you date or marry a non-reader?
Well, seeing as my fiancee is not a big reader (he only reads non-fiction like a loser lol), then yeah! While it would be nice to be with someone who’s a reader like me, my fiancee is a gamer so I get plenty of reading time at night!
GENRE SNOB
You have to ditch one genre – never to be read again for the rest of your life. Which one do you ditch?
Oh, this is really easy – non-fiction! I’ve never been that interested in reading non-fiction, though I have read it for research purposes before and liked it. I’m much happier in my fantasy and fictional worlds, so that one is a no-brainer for me.
UBER GENRE SNOB
You can only choose to read from one genre for the rest of your life. Which genre do you choose?
Oh my gosh this one is so hard!! I mean if we’re choosing “genres” then fiction would be my go-to since that encompasses everything I read, but if it’s a sub-genre I have to pick, then probably fantasy. Fantasy is so broad with so many variations tied to it, and while I absolutely love contemporaries and historical fiction, fantasy will always have may heart.
COMMUNITY SNOB
Which genre do you think receives the most snobbery from the bookish community?
This question is tough for me, because what do they mean from snobbery, you know? Like which one gets looked down upon the most or the one that is the snobbiest? Cause romance 1000% gets looked down upon all the time and non-fiction/classics are the snobbiest. Though, as a whole, the only genre that has both is fantasy! They’re looked down upon and yet so snobby at the same time.
This was such a fun book tag and I would love to read your answers if you decide to do it! I’m tagging Alexa @ Writing the Universe, because I’m dying to read her responses, but if you decide to do this tag, tag me so I can see!
