WWW Wednesday (7/21/21)

This week has been not great for me. A lot of sad, stressful things happened in a short amount of time and I’m still not recovered from it. On Monday morning, we woke up to find out our fish had died. I gave my fiance that fish as a present 4 years ago and he was with us through everything. He was a blood parrot cichlid named Smiley and he was so lively. He would swim up to greet you and do tricks, like flipping upside down for us. We are both so sad that he passed. And that was just the icing on the shit week I’ve been having. I won’t even go into the other stuff I’ve been dealing with, but I’ll summarize with lots of tears and lots of arguing. Not fun.

I’m going on and on about life. You’re not here for that. It’s sad because Sunday started off great and then turned for the worst and it’s just gotten more and more awful since then. But anyways, here’s my reading update for this week!

WWW Wednesday’s is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, and all it involves is answering three simple questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

I didn’t realize I’ve read 3 books this week, but I guess I did. I finished They’ll Never Catch Us by Jessica Goodman last night and I’m starting A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout today. I have the e-book of Small Favors by Erin A. Craig up on my kindle in case I want to start reading it, but I don’t want to count that I’m actively reading it right now, because my attention is definitely focused on AKOFAF. I’m sure Alexa at Writing the Universe is so happy I’m finally getting to it. I finished From Blood and Ash a few weeks ago and I can finally move on to book 2! I have a feeling I’m going to need book 3 on standby…

Reading has served as a really helpful distraction for me this week and I’m so grateful for it. With only one more full week of July left, I question if I’ll be able to finish my TBR for this month, or if I’ll inevitably fall behind. But I’m gonna keep reading and enjoying these books and find out!

I’m so sorry about your pet fish. Losing a pet is always hard and grieving is a whole process. I’m glad that reading is an outlet you can use at a time like this. On another note, I’m a huge fan of the Blood and Ash series and I’m so excited to see you reading it right now! Hope you have a better week ahead!
