NaNoWriMo 2020: FINAL UPDATE

I am so late on this post, but better late than never, right? It’s finally here, my final NaNoWriMo post for 2020!!

Let’s jump in and see where I ended for my second manuscript!

So I finished NaNo with 51,001 words which means I WON NANO!! I have done NaNo twice before and failed horrendously, so I was pushing myself so much this year. I wanted to win all of the achievement badges, but unfortunately I did not have it in me to write a minimum of 1,667 every day. Especially for the last few days of November, I wrote like 1,000 words over three days or something like that. I just got so tired.

As you can see, the last three days were my weakest days, but I still managed to hit the 50,000 word goal for November and continued writing every day, even if it was only 100 words so I could say I wrote every day in November!

My best writing day was at almost 3,000 words and my worst was 125 words. I really tried sticking to 2,000 words a day but it was a hit or miss goal. Some days I hit it or went over. Other days I was close enough for me to call it a night. It was actually helpful having a 2,000 daily word goal because it allowed me to continue hitting the minimum daily goal (for the most part) and hit the 50,000 word goal!

So the only goal I didn’t win this month was hitting 1,667 words every single day. I was close, for the most part, but the last few days I was just too tired and busy to write that much. It was Thanksgiving, I got engaged, and it just wasn’t in the cards for me. But, I did write every single day for 30 straight days and hit all the word goals, which is so cool!

I wanted to win all of the badges this month, with the expectation that it might go off the rails, but I’m actually so impressed and happy I accomplished this! Will I do NaNo next year? Maybe! Am I going to sleep for a year before I even attempt it again? Definitely.

For everyone who participated in NaNo – CONGRATS! You did an amazing, difficult thing by writing a book this month! Whether or not you hit your goals, whether or not you love your book yet, you did the coolest thing ever and wrote a book! If you’re considering doing NaNo next year DO IT. The worst thing that happens is you start writing a book and get some experience doing that.

I’m gonna start on edits for my first novel, which is the NaNo project I failed at two years ago and whip this book into shape! Are you interested in seeing more writing updates? Let me know!

Thanks for joining me on this writing journey and hopefully I can do it again next year!
