Bookish This or That – Guest Post Edition

So we’re doing something a little different today. Today, I am doing a Bookish This or That but with a twist! I teamed up with Alexa @ Writing the Universe to guess what I think her answers to these questions would be. Alexa and I have been friends for a year and a half now and I think I know her reading preferences enough to at least guess.

I am going to post my guesses for Alexa first and then below I will be posting my own responses! If you want to see Alexa’s guesses about me and her responses, make sure to check out her post!

We got this post off of Kim @ KimberlyFayeReads so be sure to give her some love!

My guess for Alexa:

Reading on the couch or in bed?

I think Alexa would enjoy reading on the couch, because that’s like 90% of the pics she sends me when she’s reading. But I know she also likes reading in bed too. So both?

Male main character or female main character?

Female main character. Or at least, that’s the majority of books she reads.

Sweet snacks or salty snacks while reading?

I feel like she would be a salty girl too. Sweets are great sometimes, but for the most part salty foods are long term snacks.

Trilogies or quartets?

Uhhh both? I don’t think she has a preference really, but I guess I’ll go with quartet because more books! More books are always better!

First person pov or third person pov?

I think she likes third person pov more than first person, but then again, I also don’t think she has a strong preference. Whatever fits the book better.

Reading at night or in the morning?

Night. 100%

Libraries or bookstores?

Bookstores. She’s like me and loves to buy them and keep them forever.

Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry?

Uhh cry? She’s stronger than I am and can take the emotional stuff better, so I think she would like those kinds of books more. But again, it really depends on the book.

Black book covers or white book covers?

I really don’t understand why this would be a preference. I guess white covers since there’s so few of them?

Character-drive or plot-driven stories?

Character-driven plots. I know this because of her stories preferences and her love of ACOMAF – but I can’t really blame her! Plus, if the characters are worth it, I know she’ll stick through a bad plot for them. But if the characters suck but the plot is good, she’s less likely to keep going.

Answers for myself:

Reading on the couch or in bed?

Totally on the couch. I used to read in bed because my family would turn on the TV while I was reading, which is distracting. Now that I have my own place, the couch for sure. I get too sleepy to read in my bed.

Male main character or female main character?

Female main character because a lot of fantasy books have female main characters, but I don’t have a preference. I won’t avoid a book because it has a main character that is a different gender from me.

Sweet snacks or salty snacks while reading?

I don’t really eat snacks while I read, cause I hate getting grease on my books, but I guess salty? If it’s sweet I will completely ignore my book to just eat the dessert!

Trilogies or quartets?

Trilogies? I guess? I honestly don’t really care! It depends on the series.

First person pov or third person pov?

It depends on the book. Some books I can’t imagine being first person if it’s written in third and vice versa. Most books I read are in third person and I prefer writing in third person, so I guess third person.

Reading at night or in the morning?

Morning for sure. I have more energy and can read for longer spans of time than at night. Especially if I’m in bed. The second the sun goes down and I’m reading in bed it’s lights out for me. I’m a goner.

Libraries or bookstores?

Bookstores. All the way. I would get so sad having to return the book to the library!

Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry?

Both? Honestly, books that make me laugh because I hate crying. But if a book makes me cry, then you know it’s a great book!

Black book covers or white book covers?

Uhhh I’m not sure. White book covers? But then they get dirty really easily and I’m scared they’re going to get stained. So black book covers for my sanity.

Character-drive or plot-driven stories?

Ohhhh, this is really hard. I think character-driven stories because they’re more relatable and I can just breeze through happily. Plot-driven stories are still amazing and I love them, but they can be too much at times, you know? Plus, if a character driven book has a bad plot I’m more likely to forgive it than a plot-driven book with bad characters. If I can’t connect with the characters, I’m not connecting with the book.

How well did we do? Were our answers right or at least close??

Aw this is such a fun idea! I totally agree about the books-that-make-you-cry question, like I hate crying and feeling ~emotional~ but also if I’m crying because of a book then it’s def a great book! Loved reading your answers for this! ♥

This was such a great post and such a fantastic idea! Yeah, I usually read on my bed too or at least in my room because you can be sure that at some point my parents are going to want to watch something on the TV. I like books that make me laugh but I also love to be destroyed by a book (is that weird to say this?) because then I know that I clearly care about the story and the characters.
